MOCI Launches New Digital Services in Qatar: What Businesses Need to Know

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has announced new digital services designed to make business setup, management and renewal processes easier for entrepreneurs and companies in Qatar.

The updates support a faster and more efficient business environment by giving investors improved access to information, applications and essential company services online. For new entrepreneurs and existing businesses, this means less time spent on routine procedures and more visibility when making business decisions.

A New E-Commerce Licence for Online Businesses

One of the main updates is the new e-commerce licence, introduced under Ministerial Decision No. 25 of 2026.

The licence allows eligible businesses to establish and operate approved e-commerce activities online in Qatar. It covers 194 approved activities and has a stated fee of QAR 500.

This can be a useful option for entrepreneurs who want to sell products or provide eligible services through a website or digital platform. However, choosing the correct business activity and meeting the relevant requirements is still important before applying.

Improved Digital Access to MOCI Services

MOCI has also introduced an updated version of its official website and application. These updates aim to make it easier for business owners to access services, obtain information and complete selected transactions online.

The upgraded application includes digital certificate services. Business owners, auditors and authorised company representatives can request commonly needed certificates and extracts, make payment online and receive the documents digitally.

This may help companies save time when they need documents for banks, suppliers, tenders, government procedures or internal company requirements.

Easier Company Renewals

Another important update is the comprehensive business renewal service available through the MOCI application.

Business owners can review their company information, complete the required steps, submit applications, follow the status of their request and make payments online. This can make the renewal process more organised and reduce delays caused by missing documents or incomplete information.

Even with digital services, companies should not wait until the last minute to renew their Commercial Registration, commercial licence, establishment card or other required documents. Preparing early helps avoid penalties, interruptions or delays in company operations.

Qatar Business Map for Better Market Research

The updated Qatar Business Map gives investors and entrepreneurs tools to explore business activities, establishments and market indicators across Qatar.

Before opening a new business, this can help entrepreneurs understand:

  • The concentration of similar activities in different areas
  • Possible market opportunities
  • Suitable locations for a new business
  • Available information about commercial activity in Qatar

Market research is an important step before company formation. It can help business owners choose the right activity, location and business model before investing.

What These Changes Mean for Investors

These digital services are part of Qatar’s ongoing efforts to improve the investor journey—from researching a market and setting up a business to managing everyday company transactions.

For entrepreneurs, digital access can simplify many steps. However, company formation and government procedures can still require careful planning, especially when choosing activities, preparing documents, arranging approvals or managing renewals and employee-related transactions.

At RCH Qatar, we help entrepreneurs and companies with company formation, government transactions, PRO services, document processing and business renewal support. Our team can guide you through the required steps and help ensure your business requirements are handled correctly.
